I wish I could give this a negative start rating. I watched a video of a pretty decent sized Youtuber promoting the Ortur R1 at the end of September. He was able to cut metal with it which us modelers call photo etch and I was impressed. I clicked on his affiliate link and purchased one for myself September 28th. Little did I know that Ortur has it set up that affiliate links go to the base model so I was not buying the same model as what I had intended. I promptly emailed Ortur's support. I told support I wanted to avoid any issues and make sure I got the model I wanted and that I was more than willing to pay the difference between the 2 models. It is now almost a month and a half and they still have not responded. I did however get a response from their marketing department when I replied to the email saying my R1 was being shipped. Mr. Hall replied on October 12th said that he would put a hold on my shipment to make sure I got what I wanted. I did ask Mr. Hall if the one I mistakenly ordered would do the same as in the video I had watched and he said "yes it will". The next thing I know my R1 was delivered and it had issue right out of the gate. It turned on once and did not come back on until I looked around and noticed that the plug for the power button wasn't plugged in all the way. Then their app for this machine is not available on Android unless you go thru a 3rd party vendor and download an apk file and which forces you to shut off all the security features on your phone so that was a no go. Neither Lasergrbl or Lightburn detected the R1. I was finally able to get it to work with Lightburn but guess what. That's right it would not cut the thin .005 metal Mr. Hall said it would. All it did was warp the metal making it useless.
There is almost no information to go with this machine. The setting for this are not there for Lasergrbl or Lightburn because it is to new. Support after a month and a half still hasn't replied to any of my emails. After some back and forth with Mr. Hall I received a $130.00 discount to order the correct laser module that also came with a $47.00 fee for import taxes. After getting the new laser module there were no instructions on how to install it. All the videos showed them putting it on other machines. Also with the new laser module there is a homing issue where the new module hits the side of the case and doesn't allow it to go all the way back to home and that was after correcting the working area to the 100mm x 80mm as instructed. It was not hitting the switch inside that says it is in the home position so all it did was click because the motor kept running. I had to go in and adjust the **** to fix that issue. It will not stay in focus or there is something wrong with it because it will cut a box out just fine but if you try to cut a circle it wont as you can see in the picture below. Also if you have a strange shape like a box at the end of a smaller rectangle it won't cut it properly. I'm thinking it might be because the belt is lose since nothing else was installed properly but There are no instructions on how to adjust that. I'm into this thing for over $400.00 USD when I could have gotten one for my Atomstack A20 Pro that has a 400mm x 400 mm workable area for less than $400 USD. This is not worth it, AVOID this thing like it's the plague because you will not be happy with it. Please save yourself the hassle, time and energy by buying something that actually has support and more importantly works right and isn't slopped together like some cheap Temu knockoff.

yes you can turn it on, it doesn't even make for a good decoration.
my recommendation is DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE!
