1. About the APP

ORTUR laser engraver control app

ORTUR is a mobile application for controlling ORTUR laser engravers. With it, you can:

  • connect your phone to the engraver through Wi-Fi or an AP hotspot
  • import pictures, text, QR codes, and other content
  • edit and adjust engraving designs (scale, rotate, mirror, apply filters, and more)
  • set engraving parameters (power, speed, and passes)
  • start engraving with one tap and monitor progress in real time
  • browse the material library and community projects

2. Interface Overview

The main interface has three tabs at the bottom

When you open the APP, the main interface appears with three tabs at the bottom:

The Device page (Home) is the main entry point for engraving. The first time you use it, an "Add device" guide card is displayed.

3. Log In and Register

3.1Welcome / login page

After opening the APP, the welcome page provides two options: "Log in" and "Register".

3.2Log in

StepAction
1Click "Log in"(Log in) open the login page
2choose a login method: verification code / phone number / email
3enter your phone number/email and password (or verification code)
4select "I have read and agree to the User Agreement and Privacy Policy"
5Click "Log in" button to complete login

3.3Register

StepAction
1On the welcome page, Click "Register"(Register)
2choose phone number or email registration
3enter your phone number/email, then obtain and enter the verification code
4set a password (8-16 characters, including letters and numbers)
5agree to the terms and click "Confirm"

3.4Password Recovery

4. Connect a Device

Before first use, make sure the engraver is powered on and ready for network setup (the breathing light is flashing).

4.1Add device

1Go to "Device"(Device) Tab
2Click "Add device"(Add device)
3the page automatically scans for nearby devices
4in "Select a model to add a device" select a device model from the list

Example device models: Ortur R2、01 & U1 Air、H20、H10、OLM3、Aufero and more.

4.2Wi-Fi network setup(WLAN)

Use this method when the device connects through a Wi-Fi router.

1select "Wi-Fi setup"
2follow the instructions to operate the device:① power on the machine → ② press the power button five times in succession until you hear two beeps → ③ wait until the breathing light flashes
3Click "Next"(Next)
4make sure your phone is connected to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi(5 GHz is not supported),enter the Wi-Fi password
5wait for setup to finish

4.3AP setup

Use this method when there is no Wi-Fi environment and you connect through the device's hotspot.

1in the Wi-Fi setup page, click "No Wi-Fi? Use AP setup"
2follow the instructions to operate the device:① power on the machine → ② short-press three times, wait for one beep, then press and hold for 1-1.5 seconds → ③ release when you hear two beeps → ④ wait until the breathing light flashes
3Click "Next"(Next)
4connect to the device hotspot in your phone's Wi-Fi settings
5return to the APP and wait for the device to connect

4.4Device Details

After connecting, you can view device details on the Device page:

  • Travel size — the engraving area (for example, 300.0 x 210.0 mm)
  • Laser module — the laser head model currently in use
  • Device information — Wi-Fi name、IP address、MAC address、memory
  • Machine settings / Safety thresholds / Device parameters — additional configuration options

5. Start Engraving

5.1Workflow

Home → New Creation → Canvas Editing → Camera Locate (optional) → Frame Preview → Set Processing Parameters → Check Focus → Upload → Start Engraving → Finished

5.2New Creation

On the Device page, open the Creation Center. It provides two options:

  • "New Creation"(New Creation) — start a new engraving project
  • "History"(Historical) — view previous projects

5.3Canvas Editing

On the processing canvas, use the tabs at the top to switch content sources:

Rulers around the canvas (0-175 mm) help you position the engraving visually.

5.4Camera Locate

At the top of the canvas, "Camera Locate"(Camera Locate) uses the camera to identify the engraving object for precise positioning. Perform camera calibration

1Click "Start calibration"(Start calibration),place the calibration board on the base
2follow the instructions to place the "circular design" card at the center, top-left, top-right, bottom-right, and bottom-left of the engraver
3remove the calibration board after engraving, then adjust the four sliders until the four red dots align with the four engraved positioning points
4After calibration, use visual area calibration to move the top, bottom, left, and right boundaries and define the engraving area
💡 If visual recognition fails, check: ① the background is clean ② the object contrasts clearly with the base ③ the exposure is reduced ④ the objects have consistent outlines ⑤ the orientation is consistent。

5.5Frame Preview Settings

Before engraving, use Frame Preview to confirm the engraving area:

5.6Set Processing Parameters

Set engraving parameters in the "Process" tab:

5.7Check Laser Focus

Before starting engraving, the APP prompts you to check the laser focus. Click "Checked" to continue.

5.8Upload and Preview

1After confirming the parameters, the APP uploads the job to the device and displays the upload progress.
2after the upload finishes, open the Engraving Preview page
3The page displays the device status (STATUS), coordinates (WPOS), estimated time, and number of passes.

5.9Start Engraving

StepAction
1if the machine is in Alarm status, click "Unlock" to clear the alarm
2Click "Start"(Start)
3in the dialog, click "Confirm" to confirm that engraving should start
4During engraving, you can "Pause" or "Minimize"
⚠️ Safety: Never look directly at the laser during engraving. Keep the machine cover closed. The machine is hazardous while operating.
🔒 Connection loss protection: if the connection to the machine is lost during engraving, the APP immediately stops the laser and displays "Safe Stop" to keep the process safe. Check the Wi-Fi and machine status before starting again.

6. Common functions

6.1Control(Control)

Use this feature to control machine movement manually and send commands. It includes:

  • Movement control — move the laser head up, down, left, and right,supports step sizes(0.1mm / 1mm / 10mm / 50mm)and speed settings(slow/medium/fast/very fast)
  • Common functions — set the origin, return to Home, control the laser, positioning, fan, and light
  • Safety checks — tilt, displacement, and flame detection
  • Command(Command) — send custom G-Code commands

6.2QR Code Generator(QR Code)

You can generate several types of QR codes. Switch between them using the top tabs and enter the required information:

The Home page material library provides a rich collection of engraving materials

The Home page's Material Library(Library) provides a rich collection of engraving materials:

  • Character(Character)
  • Animal(Animal)
  • Plant(Plant)
  • Graphic(Graph)
  • Custom(Custom) — supports custom materials

10.1Product Capabilities

Q1:What materials can I engrave?

MDF, plywood, pine, paulownia, cardboard, paper, kraft paper, leather, dark acrylic, pebbles, ceramic, coated metal, electroplated metal, stainless steel, glass, knitted fabric, cotton, ABS plastic, bamboo, silicone, rubber, tile, marble, slate, cement, brick, and more.

Q2:What languages does the APP support?

Chinese and English are currently supported.

Q3:What file formats are supported?

Supported image formats: jpg、png、bmp、tif、svg、raw、webp、jpeg

Supported file formats: tap、gcode、nc、ngc、cnc、ncc、fnc、dnc、fan、gc、ncg、ncp、fgc、txt

Q4:How do I use the machine?

In a browser, visit www.orturtech.com,click "Support",to view the relevant tutorials.

Q5:Which accessories can be used with it?

YRC and YRR.

Q6:What is the engraving area?

OLM3 — 400mm × 400mm

H10 — 300mm × 300mm

10.2Troubleshooting

Q1:The device cannot be found

  • make sure the device is powered on and its breathing light is flashing
  • your phone is close to the device and Location permission is enabled
  • make sure the Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz (5 GHz is not supported)

Q2:Wi-Fi setup failed

  • the device has been reset and its breathing light is flashing
  • the Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz
  • the Wi-Fi password is correct

Q3:The machine shows Alarm and cannot start

click "Unlock" to clear the alarm before starting engraving.

Q4:The connection is lost during engraving

  • the APP automatically stops engraving for safety
  • check that the Wi-Fi connection is stable
  • click "Safe Stop" and start again

Q5:How do I distinguish 2.4G and 5G Wi-Fi?

  • check the network name in your phone's Wi-Fi list; 5G networks usually have a "5G" suffix
  • if your router only supports 5 GHz, open its settings and switch to 2.4 GHz

Appendix: Alarms and Error Codes

When the APP displays an Alarm or Error code, use this section to quickly understand the cause and solution.

AAlarms: Why the machine stopped

BErrors: Three categories

B1. The engraving file has a problem (most common)

The imported engraving file is invalid or has an unsupported format, so the machine cannot recognize it. Regenerate the file or try another file.

Affected codes: Error 1、2、11、14、20~39、43、44、48

B2. Machine settings or status are abnormal

The machine settings or current status do not allow this operation. Restart the machine or restore the default settings, then try again.

Affected codes: Error 3~10、12、13、15~19、40~42、45~47、49、50

B3. Hardware problem
